In person and online therapy,

a space just for you

I warmly welcome you to a space for you

Hello and Welcome to my page. Do you need help with Anxiety, Depression, a Health diagnosis, ADHD or something else? Do reach out to see if I can assist. I offer a free, no obligation 20 minute chat to make sure we are a good fit.

I am an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor & Therapist in Ditchling (near Hassocks and Burgess Hill) and I specialise in Grief and Loss. When we hear those words we often assume that means losing a loved one but it means so much more. We all carry losses, from micro losses to life changing losses and all deserve our attention.

Grief can also be...

-Divorce or Relationship Breakdown

-Loss of our perceived future

-Job loss

-Ageing

-Children growing up, going to school, leaving home

-Ageing Parents

-Anticipatory Grief

-The Childhood we didn't have and Childhood Trauma

-A Life Changing Health Diagnosis and Illness

-Loss of a beloved Pet

-Loss of Friends

-Navigating identity shifts

-Our hopes and dreams not being realised

It's never too late to talk. A lot of us have spent a lifetime pushing away difficult feelings and it's painful and takes a lot of courage to open up and talk about them, but I hope to provide you with a safe place to do so. I believe that counselling is about the relationship between client and therapist and where appropriate I will offer tools alongside talking therapy that may help you on your journey to a happier more fulfilling life. We do not 'fix' grief but we tend to it in a gentle and safe way.

Making the decision to begin counselling can be scary, so feel free to email any questions you may have.

About me

I am an Integrative humanistic therapist and counsellor. I draw from three therapeutic modalities to suit each individual client. It is a holistic approach. The modalities I draw from are Person centred, Existential and Gestalt. We look at what is going on in the here and now even though we may be talking about past experiences. The therapy is client led, I believe that you are the expert in your own life and experiences, I am there to help and guide you along the way with tools and interventions when needed. I hope to be able to enable you to become more self aware, more accepting of yourself and develop belief in yourself to make lasting change.

My personal interests that I sometimes draw from are Neuroscience, Consciousness, Buddhist philosophy, Meditation and Mindfulness, Breathwork, Movement, Sound Therapy and Contrast Therapy (Heat and Cold), Nature (Ecotherapy)

What my clients say...

'I was hesitant about therapy at first, the thought of opening up to a stranger, but from our first session my perception changed, you created a space where I felt truly seen, heard and safe. Talking about past traumas wasn't easy but you had a way of making me feel understood without judgment, your presence alone carried a warmth that turned each session into a safe haven. I found healing in ways I never expected. You didn't just hear me, you saw me'

Have you ever experienced what it is to be truly heard?

In our daily conversations we are often listening to respond. I create a safe space for you to share and be witnessed in a non judgmental, empathic way. I aim to support you in your goals by firstly listening but offering tools to empower you to help yourself. In these busy days it is often seen as a privilege to carve out an hour for ourself, to focus on just us and our needs, and yet, what is one hour a week?

We often think that to be in therapy we have to be in crisis, but it can be more than that

We can seek to improve ourself with the support of another or we can come to process any of life’s many curveballs or maybe untangle something that we are struggling with, that perhaps we don’t want to share with friends.

We can improve our relationship with ourself and others through exploring in a safe non judgmental space. We can also celebrate our wins!

How can we work together?

I work online and offer Ecotherapy or Walk and Talk Therapy. I strongly believe in the power of nature and feel that walking together in nature creates a different connection to working either online or in a therapy room. The benefits are multiplied!

Living near Hassocks I can offer Sea, Woodland or walks on the Downs.

My working days are Tuesday to Thursday 8am to 8pm

How it works

We will have a free 20 minute consultation to check that we are a good fit to work together. I will ask you to fill in an assessment form so that we are clear of what your needs are

In our first meeting we will explore your goals, what you would like from therapy. Don’t worry though, sometimes, we just want to talk, a goal may become clearer as sessions progress.

I work with:

  • Grief and Loss
  • Anticipatory Grief
  • Bereavement
  • Diagnosis processing e.g. ADHD Autism, Health Diagnosis
  • Relationship breakdown

Reflections...

Normalising the feelings arising from Grief... something not spoken about much is guilt, ruminating about what could we have done differently or trying to change what cannot be changed. Our mind likes to be in control and when everything feels completely out of control we can grasp onto these thoughts.

How do we begin to forgive ourselves? To know that we did the very best with what we knew at the time, a time when we were heartbroken and scared. Awareness itself can help, to recognise when these thoughts are coming up, feel the emotion that arises and understand why it is happening.

Counselling can allow us to explore these feelings, to voice the things we fear speaking to our family and friends. And as always, be kind to ourself. We start to explore our past and make peace with it to begin to move forward with hope for our new future.

I share more like this on my Instagram.
